Little Rocky Mountains, Montana
February 2000 by Edgar B. Heylmun, PhDThe Little Rocky Mountains are a group of wooded hills, 10 miles long and 8 miles wide, which form an island in the Great Plains of north-central Montana. They rise to 5,708 feet, 2,000 feet above the surrounding plains.
Only the so-called “precious gems” will be considered in this article. They are diamond, ruby, sapphire, and emerald. A “gem” must be rare, hard, and durable, and possess a unique color or quality in order to be classified as a gem.
Well, the events of last month have completely diverted attention away from prior problems such as tensions in Iran, arms build-ups in China and Russia, socialist experimentation in Venezuela and Bolivia, peace efforts between Israel and the Palestinians, and instead have placed the focus of the world squarely on a rapidly growing array of financial dislocations.
Within a few minutes I got my first signal and dug out a small flake about three grains.
