A federal judge convicted Oregon miner Clifford Tracy of illegal mining while digging for gold on US Forest Service land.
I can tell you that a lot of driving and digging hours went into getting that gold. I wish I had something to show for it. I told myself I would never do that again.
Some of the gold is placer that was beat up as it traveled; however, quite a bit of the gold is pocket gold that is running along the surface in this area.
