Investors Hope to Revive Idaho Gold Mine

Gold in the First Pan
Leon has a reputation of seeing more snakes than most other gold miners. The fire red and yellow concentric rings of the mountain king snake looked especially bright in the morning sun as it lay motionless on black rock. Leon touched it with a stick, but the cold snake moved only a little.
A Rich Gold Strike at Scossa
The old mining camp of Scossa, in Pershing County, Nevada, was located 6 miles from the nearby ghost camp of Rosebud and approximately 20 miles northeast of the once famous mining town of Seven Troughs. Fifty- two-year-old Charlie Scossa was already a seasoned prospector from California when he went in search of another rich strike in the high deserts of northwestern Nevada in 1930.
The Guyana Highlands
The Guyana Highlands referred to here are a tropical upland area that extends from French Guiana on the east to Colombia on the west, with elevations reaching 9,219 feet. It occupies a vast and remote region between the Orinoco River on the north and the Amazon River on the south. There are mountains, tablelands, mesas, and swamps, largely impassable to those on foot.
