The Gold Hill (Clifton) mining district is located 162 miles, by road, west of Salt Lake City. All but the last 12 miles of road is paved. The settlement of Gold Hill (pop. 10) lies at an elevation of 5,321 feet in desert mountains, the highest of which, Dutch Mountain, is 7,800 feet above sea level.
