Platinum in Nevada

Unfortunately, some of these occurrences have been associated, in the past, with fraudulent schemes. The amount of PGMs found so far has not been enough for commercially important mining operations, but the mere fact that PGMs are present is worthy of note.
Ore dressing is of prime importance to the operator of a small hardrock gold mine. No, Virginia, ore dressing has nothing to do with dressing in the latest spring dresses, or the stuff that gets forced into the turkey on Thanksgiving. It refers to the method of processing ore to extract the valuable minerals contained in the rock—in the case of this series of articles, gold and silver.
Gold has always been noted to have an affinity for quartz to such a degree prospectors almost always dig on quartz veins in a search for the precious metal.
Unquestionably, it was the other side of the Atlantic Ocean—that is the European side—that provided virtually all the political, economic and social fireworks during the past month.
