Gold Mine Proposed in Jefferson County

On August 29, 2003, the “Miners” (Waldo Mining District, along with Bob & Lesa Barton of Armadillo Mining Shop) filed Complaints in US District Court for the District of Oregon (Medford) against the United States Forest Service, Scott Conroy (in his official capacity as Forest Supervisor of the Siskiyou National Forest), and Secretary of Commerce Donald Evans.
The hoopla is over, the spectacular shows are just a memory. The fact is, we're stuck in the 2000s whether we like it or not! And the sad—or glad—reality is that changing the year's first number from a "one" to a "two" hasn't really changed anything other than giving us oldtimers some minor irritation now and then until we get used to things.
During this trip we found enough gold to make us want to come back, even with the punishment of a very long, tough hike.
Gold mineralization is usually first noted in an area by examining material weathered from the source and liberated or washed downhill from it.
