BLM Warning About Purchase of Mining Claims on the Internet

In a dramatic reversal of policy the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has posted the following on the huge internet auction house, eBay. Mining claims are currently being offered on eBay with prices ranging into the millions of dollars and apparently the BLM is concerned that many of these claims may not have mineral values that reflect their huge asking prices, be improperly filed, or have one or more of the many other problems that can affect mining claims.Resurrecting An Old Hard Rock Mine—A Series of Small Victories

Final Buckhorn Mountain Study Released
The Washington Department of Ecology recently issued a revised environmental study of a proposed Okanogan County gold mine. The study is an amendment to one done in 1997 for the proposed Crown Jewel open pit mine on Buckhorn Mountain near Chesaw.

Gold in Iceland?
Normally, one does not look at volcanic islands in a search for gold. However, rich gold deposits have been found in or near volcanoes at Lihir and Misima Islands near New Guinea, so one cannot dismiss gold opportunities on volcanic islands. All of Iceland is of volcanic origin, with acidic volcanic rocks like rhyolite and granophyre being present at a few localities.
