The Swift Shore Mine 1862—Present

Michigan Bluff is an old mining town dating back to the 1850s. It is located in Placer County, about 25 miles northeast of Auburn, just past the town of Foresthill. It sits on the very edge of a mountain, with the Middle Fork of the American River flowing about 1200 feet lower at the bottom of the canyon.Following the Clues
It took me awhile before I finally got a nice mellow signal. My nugget turned out to weigh in about two dwt (pennyweight). Over the next few hours, we all picked up a few more nuggets apiece.

One of my favorite sayings has always been, “Do as I say, not as I do.” Perhaps that old adage could be applied to Alan Greenspan and the actions of the Federal Reserve of late. They are telling us that the economy is not in bad shape; that we are not in or headed to recession and that new strength is just around the bend. They are acting as if there is a looming catastrophe.
