Arizona is better-known for copper than for gold, but there are a number of dry placers in the western and southern parts of the state. A prolonged drought at the time of this writing has made the placers the driest they have been in recorded history. A good gold panner can find colors in many gulches and benches, far more than those that have been described in reports.

After paying for the mine fleet, mill capital, supplies, fuel, power and labor, at today’s metal prices, does this mine make a profit?
If anyone needed convincing that high metals prices have brought mining back into the public’s consciousness, two conventions held in Vancouver, British Columbia near the end of January 2006 should have ended any doubt.
Mike scored the best with a total of one-half ounce of gold nuggets. Tom, Brian and Greg each had pieces in the one and a half pennyweight range. The rest of us had small gold and nothing like these three.
The first step in my recovery process after milling the ore to the desired size is to table it. On this particular ore, I get good results milling it to minus 100 mesh.
