I love to see old-timer workings while I am out detecting for gold. For one thing, it assures me that gold came from there. Second, it tells me gold should almost certainly still be there.
People have been looking for gold in every manner possible since the big gold boom in 1849, so what chance do we have of getting anything in today’s world where literally thousands of prospectors and fortune seekers have been before us?
The mine will be open for public tours Saturday and Sunday afternoons beginning August 24, lasting into the fall and winter as weather permits.
