The platinum group metals (PGMs) are divided into three that are “light,” about the same atomic weight as silver, and three that are “heavy,” about the same atomic weight as gold. The Goldfield Mining District, Nevada—Part II
The majority of the gold produced in Goldfield has come from ores that are close enough to the surface to be oxidized by the air. This oxidized ore is normally a soft, shattered, earthy material usually stained yellow to brown by oxides of iron.
Miners Attend Meeting in Myrtle Point, Oregon
It was "standing room only" as a crowd of approximately 50 interested miners attended a meeting hosted by the Powers Ranger District and Forest Service personnel from the Siskiyou National Forest.
