The Montana Board of Environmental Review has extended the comment deadline on a proposed rule for treating water discharged by mining operations. The new deadline is March 17.
The State Division of Governmental Coordination said it should have been asked to review the project a year ago to make sure the mine complies with the Alaska Coastal Zone Management Plan.
The area of interest in this article is in eastern Moffat County, located in northwestern Colorado adjacent to the Wyoming line. It is a high, sagebrush prairie which ranges from 6,200 to 7,200 feet in elevation, north and northwest of the county seat of Craig (pop. 8,000).
