Washington Miner Wins Poetry Contest

The town of Quartzsite, with a permanent population of about 2,000, was founded as a stage stop in 1866. It is situated on the broad La Posa Plain, a north-trending desert valley, at an elevation of 875 feet.
Climbing up the debris, I pointed my flashlight up a shaft ascending straight up as far as my light would shine. It was the stope of the pay shoot leading to the old tunnel above!
