Time is a commodity which if traded would dwarf the price of gold. Nobody has enough of it; we can’t make more of it; and whether squandered or spent wisely, once gone, it’s gone forever. To find gold we have to spend time.
I hit bedrock at two feet and followed it down as it appeared that I was on the edge of a rib that ran with the river. This was beginning to look very promising and I was seeing some small gold—pieces and flakes—in the header of my sluice box.
I can’t remember the exact day, but I do remember I was 11 years old when my father Charlie Sr. took me prospecting for the first time. That’s the day the fire and passion for gold was first ignited in me. I was born and raised in Grand Forks, British Columbia, and was lucky enough to have a gold bearing creek about 10 miles from our home.
In last month’s article I talked a bit about opportunities for heap leaching small hardrock deposits. This month I’m going to talk about the basics of putting together a heap leach project, including building the pad and leaching the ore.
