All we can say is “Welcome to 2012,” and if the first part of January is any indication, it is going to be quite a year on many fronts from the ongoing international financial crisis to the progress of a presidential election set to end this coming November.
One area receiving huge attention is the promised ascension of free market concepts associated with Trump versus the government-dominated Keynesian ideas previously advocated by both President Obama and Hillary Clinton.
...this debacle may easily lead to disenchantment with government programs in general and politicians of all stripes in particular. Historically, that kind of unrest has been positive for precious metals markets.
Some financial commentators have speculated that bitcoin and other virtual currencies have captured a portion of funds that would have been invested in gold. I find it a bit ironic that people who invest in precious metals would even consider another fiat currency.
