How to Turn Your Gold Finds Into Cash

Even if you are not ready to cash in right now, it might be good to evaluate your options and make a plan of action so when that day comes you know exactly what to do.
Once indicators start showing up along or below a contact I start to get excited. When I have shale, and outcroppings of diorite with iron-red, gritty soil and some clay thrown in, I really get lightheaded. I may be a mile away from the nearest diggings but that’s okay. I just found a spot that could provide some nice nugget hunting.
“Metal detecting is not a social function.” So said a good friend of mine. And it’s true. But that’s not to say the benefits of having a prospecting partner don’t outweigh those of being alone.
The only thing that saved me was talking to a local miner who gave me a “heads up” that private individuals owned all the mineral rights in that section.
The names attached to these areas came about from many sources. Many are easy to see why the name was given while others had a more contrasting note to them.
Placers that are directly associated with lode deposits are sometimes overlooked and may have good potential for those who are willing to search for them.
The very first thing to find out...is if the detector has the ability to be ground balanced.
