Just recently, the miners hit another big pocket, this time with nearly 1,000 ounces of gold. Some of the rich specimens were as big as a fist and others were in the form of smaller pieces.
Even as late as 1906, Delamar was second only to Tonopah and Goldfield in production outshining many better known areas. Since the first discoveries, more than 700,000 ounces of gold have been produced from the mines here.
The same day, while two of us were heading to Vancouver to attend the mining convention, two others from our team were headed to Nevada to begin loading the millsite equipment.
One of the oldest sayings in the mining exploration world is that if you are going to search for a new mine, one of the best places to look is near an existing, proven property.
There are a number of veins in the disseminated mineralization, but the principle ones on Round Mountain are known as the Los Gazabo and the Keane.
Guyanese gold deposits occur in deformed and metamorphosed greenstones made up of alternating mafic to felsic volcanic and sedimentary rocks intruded by granitoid basoliths and stocks.
