Finally! Trump administration acts on PLP recommendations
Four years of trips to DC, including 35 days spent in DC this year by Clark Pearson (Public Lands for the People) and Scott Harn (ICMJs Prospecting and Mining Journal) is finally paying off. The Trump administration is not going to wait for Congress to act on meaningful mining reform. The administration is taking action on many of our proposed recommendations. (read full article)
Petition For Rule Change
The Waldo and Galice Mining Districts, along with Attorney James Buchal and many other mining organizations, have petitioned the Department of Interior and Department of Agriculture to address federal preemption. (read full article)
Forest Service seeks comments on proposed NEPA changes
On June 13, the Forest Service published an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking and request for comments as the agency seeks to revise its National Environmental Policy Act regulations. (read full article)

BLM fees rise
"The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is issuing this final rule to make statutorily required adjustments to its location and maintenance fees for unpatented mining claims, mill sites, and tunnel sites. These adjustments reflect changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which is published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics..."
The new location fee is $40, and the new maintenance fee is $165 per lode mining claim or site and $165 for each 20 acres or portion thereof for placer mining claims.
The final rule is effective July 1, 2019.
