_______________
HB 1162, a bill proposed by environmental group "Fish Not Gold" (www.fishnotgold.org), would mandate another study on in-stream mining and would establish a moratorium on suction dredging in Washington State beginning in 2016. And if the bill passes, new rules based upon the study results would begin in 2017.HB 1162 would create a committee of environmentalists, tribal members and regulatory employees appointed by the director of Washington Fish & Wildlife with little representation from miners to force new, unjustified regulations upon small-scale miners in the state.
A hearing on HB 1162 has been scheduled for Thursday, February 12 in front of the House Agriculture & Natural Resource Committee at 1:30pm in House Hearing Room B, John O'Brien Bldg, 504 15th Ave SE, in Olympia.
All suction gold dredgers and other in-stream miners in Washington State would be impacted and are encouraged to attend if possible. Don't miss your opportunity to be heard.
