SB 670 passes in the Senate

May 26, 2009

Senate Bill 670 passed in the Senate after being called for a vote by Senator Wiggins.

The bill, if passed by the Assembly and signed into law by Governor Schwarzenegger, would halt all suction gold dredging in the State of California until the California Department of Fish & Game completes a new Environmental Impact Report on suction dredging.

These are the Senators who spoke in favor of the bill:
Jenny Oropeza (D-Long Beach)
Lois Wolk (D-Vacaville)
Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento)
Denis Ducheny (D-San Diego)

Senator Sam Aanestad (R-Nevada City) and Senator Dave Cox (R-Sacramento) spoke against the bill.

All Democrats voted in favor of the bill. They were joined by Republicans Benoit, Denham, Harmon, Maldonado, Strickland, and Walters.
