Hearing scheduled on refund of 2009 dredge fees in California

April 29, 2010

A hearing has been scheduled on SB 889 in the California Senate.

The bill was introduces by California State Senator Sam Aanestad, who represents Butte, Colusa, Del Norte, Glenn, Nevada, Placer, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity and Yuba counties.

SB 889 would allow suction dredge miners to request a refund of permit fees because the dredging season was cut short last year following the passage of SB 670 in August of 2009.

Senator Aanestad would like miners to appear at the hearing as a show of support. The hearing is tentatively scheduled for May 3, 2010, in the capitol. We will post the hearing time and room number here as soon as the information is available.

Senator Aanestad also has updates available on his website.
