BLM increases mining claim location and maintenance fees effective June 29, 2009

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has increased mining claim location fees and maintenance fees in a final rule published in the Federal Register today, June 29, 2009.The location fee increases from $30 to $34 per claim. The annual maintenance fee increases from $125 to $140 per claim.
The new location fee is effective as of today. The new maintenance fee is effective for the 2010 year. These fees are due on our before September 1, 2009.
The Federal Register notice states that BLM will provide an opportunity for those who have already paid 2010 maintenance fees to pay the additional amount without penalty.
