 Nevada Mining Claim Refund Form
Refunds coming to Nevada claimholders
During a 2010 special session, the Nevada legislature approved additional fees for mining claimholders in the state in an attempt to cover a shortfall in the budget. The law was ruled unconstitutional earlier this year.
District Judge James Wilson ruled the additional fees—up to 600% higher for those who held more than 1,300 claims—amounted to an unconstitutional tax on miners. Nevada expects to return $18 million to miners through a refund program that will run through June 2013.
