02/17/2012 Draft Coho recovery plan released for northern California, southern Oregon rivers. Comments due by March 5.

The National Marine Fisheries has released a draft recovery plan for Coho salmon that has implications for miners and prospectors working in or near waterways in northern California and southern Oregon. It is imperative that miners review the extensive documentation and provide constructive comments to be considered in the process. Waterways included in the plan: Elk River Brush Creek Mussel Creek Lower Rogue River Hunter Creek Pistol River Chetco River Winchuck River Elk Creek Wilson Creek Lower Klamath River Redwood Creek Maple Creek Big Lagoon Little River Strawberry Creek Norton Widow White Creek Mad River Humboldt Bay Tributaries Lower Eel River Van Duzen River Guthrie Creek Bear River Mattole River Illinois River Middle Rogue River Applegate River Upper Rogue River Middle Klamath River Upper Klamath River Salmon River Scott River Shasta River Lower Trinity River Upper Trinity River South Fork Trinity River South Fork Eel River Mainstem Eel River Middle Fork Eel River Middle Mainstem Eel River Upper Mainstem Eel RIver   Comments are due by March 5, 2012.
