New speaker added to lecture series...
We are very happy to announce that Dr. Thom Seal has been has been added to our lecture series at the 2014 Gold Prospecting and Mining Summit in Placerville!
Dr. Seal's presentation will be on "Principals for Gravity Separation" at 2:30pm on Sunday, April 6.
For those of you not familiar with Dr. Seal, he is the former manager of metallurgical technology and was Senior Metallurgist for Newmont Mining. He is currently holds the positions of Professor of Mining, Mineral Processing and Metallurgical Engineering and Director, Institute for Mineral Resource Studies at the Mackay School of Mines in Reno, Nevada.

Brand new prospectors need not be intimidated! Lectures geared toward new prospectors include Basic Gold Prospecting Techniques, Metal Detecting for Gold, How to Locate a Promising Location for Gold Prospecting, and Staking and Holding Mining Claims.
In addition, detectorists can get their questions answered at the Detector Training booth.
And new prospectors can learn proper gold panning techniques from our team of experts, which includes former California and National Gold Panning Champions!
There are only a few spots left for our hands-on training sessions on Friday, April 4, & Monday, April 7...
Training will take place at a private mining property approximately two hours north of the Placerville Fairgrounds.
Attendees will have the opportunity to pan, power sluice (high bank), and metal detect for gold, and a full placer operation will be up and running so attendees can see first-hand how the process works.
Instructors will be present to teach panning, power sluicing and metal detecting, and to discuss setting up a placer operation similar to the one on-site.
Attendees will caravan to the work site from a rendezvous point in Auburn, California, leaving at 7:00am.
The training sessions will run from 8:30am - 4:00pm and will occur rain or shine.
The price is only $10 for subscribers to ICMJ's Prospecting and Mining Journal; $35 for non-subscribers. Give us a call to sign up, or you can take care of it online.
